UbuntuではなくXubuntuのブートスプラッシュを表示する起動/シャットダウン画面

Xubuntu-desktopをUbuntu 11.10にインストールしましたが、システムをシャットダウンまたは起動すると、Xubuntuのブートスプラッシュ画面が表示されます。 Xubuntuのプリマステーマを削除するだけで問題が修正され、デフォルトのUbuntuが復活しますか？その過程で何かを壊す「実験」はしたくありません。
