JQuery Chosenドロップダウンリストをクリアして更新しようとしています。

HTML：

<select data-placeholder="Select Picture..." class="chosen-select" style="width:250px;" id="picturegallery" tabindex="2">
    <option value="" selected="selected"></option>
    <option value="x">remove me</option>
</select>

[更新]ボタンをクリックすると、次のようになります。
