ステルスモードでは、外部から開始された接続（ポートスキャンなど）を（拒否するのではなく）マシンで無視します。特定のIPアドレスにコンピュータがまったくないかのように。

一般に、ステルスモードのエントリが問題になる可能性がありますが、これらはルーターのDNSポート（192.168.2.1:53）から送信されます。ほとんどの場合、マシンがDNS要求をルーターに送信しますが、応答が予想よりも遅くなり、ファイアウォールは外部から開始された別の接続であると見なします。マシンとルーター間の接続が遅い可能性は低く、使用している外部DNSサーバー（ISP、OpenDNS、またはパブリックDNSサービスのいずれか）の応答が遅い可能性があります。

ステルスモードをオフにせずに、DNSサーバーからのログエントリだけを停止する方法が見つかりませんでした。

Terry Lambertは、MacOSファイアウォールについて、興味深い読み物となる、あまり補足的ではないことをいくつか述べています。貧しい初心者の管理者を誤解させて、UDP/IPの「接続」などがあると誤解させるのは、明らかにその唯一の欠点ではありません。
