デスクトップでPerconaxtrabackupを実行できますか？

データベースサーバーでxtracbackupを正常に実行できましたが、他のマシン（MySQLが実行されているマシンではない）でバックアップを実行したいと思っています。
ホスト/ポートオプションを指定してデスクトップでxtrabackupツールを実行しようとしましたが、次のエラーが発生します。

いいえ、mysqlサーバープロセスを介さずにデータファイルを直接読み取るため、別のマシンで実行することはできません。

ただし、データベースホストに別のマシンのディスク領域をマウントし、この領域をバックアップのターゲットディレクトリとして使用できます。

別のマシンをバックアップするサーバーのmysqlスレーブにする場合は、そのマシンでxtrabackupを使用できます。
