Windows 2003 DC（R2ではない）のActive Directoryスキーマを拡張してDFSRをサポートすることは可能ですか？

現在、新しいWindows Server 2008 Webクラスターをインストール中であり、サーバー間でいくつかのファイルを同期したいと考えています。問題は、ドメイン内のDCが古いWindowsServer 2003標準（R2ではない）であり、ADスキーマの拡張機能が含まれていないことです。スキーマをアップグレードせずにアップグレードすることは可能ですか？ DCサーバーをR2にアップグレードしますか？
